The newest Mazda CX-30 2021 is a reliable crossover with a sporty character and low consumption.
Mazda CX-30 2021 can be called a rather unexpected product of the Japanese brand.

This crossover, which has taken an intermediate position in the lineup between the CX-3 and CX-5 and is offered today at a price of 1.67 million rubles, is inferior in a number of characteristics to the Kia Sportage and Nissan X-Trail.

Moreover, if a more detailed comparison is made, it becomes even more difficult to find direct competitors for the Mazda CX-30. However, this does not mean that the Japanese model does not have remarkable features.

The Mazda CX-30 is sporty with a 2.5-liter engine and optional all-wheel drive. In the «base», the Japanese crossover is equipped with dynamic stability and traction control systems, improved airbags and branded cruise control, which comes along with several radars.

In the top-end modification, premium acoustics with leather seats and electric front seats appear.

Options and prices

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 was one of the last Japanese brand crossovers to receive a new body. Because of him, even in the photo, this car looks very similar to the «older» SUVs, including the CX-9.

Moreover, the similarities between Mazda crossovers can be traced in the available trim levels, when the prices in some cases vary within fairly wide limits.

The same can be said about the technical characteristics of Japanese models, since each of them at least in one version is equipped with a 2.5-liter «aspirated». Currently, the Mazda CX-30 is available in four versions.

Basic version

Prices for the Japanese crossover start at 1.67 million rubles. The manufacturer included in this amount:

• proprietary audio system with eight speakers;

• 8.8-inch touchscreen monitor;

• Factory cruise control with multiple radars and Stop & Go function;

• LED lighting equipment;

• front lights with automatic shutdown function after stopping;

• windscreen wipers with rain sensor;

• electrically heated side mirrors with a servo drive;

• 16-inch aluminum rims.

The basic equipment includes door locks with an automatic locking function after the start of movement and power windows — lifting and lowering with one click. For comfort in the initial version of the Mazda CX-30 2021, they are also responsible:

• multifunctional steering wheel;

• engine start button;

• system of keyless access to the salon;

• parking brake with electronic control;

• cabin air conditioning system;

• sports front seats with developed lumbar support;

• 7-inch multifunction display instead of the instrument panel.

In addition, in the basic version, there are 8 airbags at once, including 2 knee and double front airbags, as well as systems for dynamic stability control and traction vector, preventing slipping and locking the brakes, and monitoring the driver’s condition.

Even in the initial modification, a rear-view camera, a lane keeping assistant with an exit warning function and indicators for monitoring the pressure in the wheels are used.


The following equipment is estimated at a minimum of 1.82 million rubles. In this modification, the Mazda CX-30 acquires a multimedia complex with support for mobile technology, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a dual-zone climate control system with separate air deflectors for the rear row of seats, a blind spot tracking system and 18-inch aluminum rims. In addition, this configuration includes seats upholstered in artificial leather.


The Preferred trim, estimated at 1.99 million rubles, is available along with premium acoustics, 12 speakers, power-operated exterior mirrors with memory function, heating and servo-assisted front seats, which adjusts their positions in eight and two directions, respectively.

For 2.15 million rubles available Mazda CX-30 2021 in the top-end version. In addition to the previously mentioned equipment, this configuration includes a head-up display (broadcast to the windshield), paddle shifters, an electrically adjustable rear door and a sunroof. Also in the top version you can find roof rails and adaptive head optics.


The 2021 Mazda CX-30 does not have an extensive engine range or original design. It is based on the standard MacPherson struts and, quite remarkably, the rear torsion beam, which is rarely found on crossovers of this class.

Perhaps the main feature of the Japanese model that sets it apart from its competitors is the dynamic traction control system. It is paired with an extremely reliable 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with direct fuel injection. Its maximum output is 186 hp.

It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission with an electronic control unit.

In a number of countries, the Mazda CX-30 is offered with a 2-liter «aspirated», developing no more than 150 hp. power. It is combined with «mechanics» or «automatic» for 6 speeds.

And the Mazda CX-30 with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel unit is supplied to the Japanese market.

Its maximum power does not exceed 156 hp. In Japan, a hybrid version of the crossover has recently been available with a 2-liter «aspirated» base and an output of 180 hp.

With each of these power units, you can purchase a proprietary all-wheel drive, implemented through an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch.

The length of the Japanese model reaches 4395 mm. The width is 1795 mm, the height is 1540 mm. Ventilated disc brakes are placed around the crossover.

Handling and off-road performance

The Mazda CX-30, as shown in the test drive, has better handling than the CX-5. At the same time, the Japanese novelty is slightly cheaper than the «older» crossover.

Such indicators are to a large extent provided by the built-in systems for dynamic redistribution of braking forces and thrust vector control, thanks to which the car clearly enters corners and does not go into skids when maneuvering.

The steering is responsive to driver movements and the on-board electronics prevent body roll. The plug-in all-wheel drive also provides excellent roadholding.

The ground clearance of the Mazda CX-30 is 175 mm. That is, this model is not intended for constant off-road movement.

This is also hindered by the design of the all-wheel drive transmission, which cannot withstand constant high loads.

Service costs

Estimating maintenance costs for the Mazda CX-30 is difficult. The fact is that this crossover is not officially supplied to the Russian market, although the Japanese concern plans to do so later.

Therefore, it is not yet possible to determine how much it will cost to operate a car in our conditions. But in general, the Japanese crossover, like the «older» models, is distinguished by a reliable design and durable motors, most of which have been successfully tested in Russia.

It is stated that their resource exceeds 250 thousand kilometers. Both gearboxes last about the same. Although the suspension in certain cases can create problems, and its restoration will cost no more than 10 thousand rubles.

Dynamic performance and fuel consumption

On average, the 2-liter Mazda CX-30 accelerates to 100 km / h in about 10 seconds. The all-wheel drive version reaches this mark in 10.4 seconds.

Fuel consumption in this case varies within 5.1-6 liters. More powerful versions of the Mazda CX-30 accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.5 seconds, consuming about six liters. And the diesel version reaches this mark in 12.6 seconds. But its consumption is only 4.4 liters.


Mazda CX-30 is made in the corporate style of Japanese models. The car has a laconic appearance, which is adorned with a massive radiator grille and sufficient narrow head optics with round LED lights.

The sporty front bumper is complemented by a relatively compact air intake and a wide metal strip. The stern of the Japanese model stands out due to the sharp bend that extends under the glass.

Above it, the developers also placed compact lanterns with round lights inside, and below — a plastic bumper with two brake light bands.

The Mazda CX-30 salon will also be kept in corporate style. In fact, the only pronounced difference of this model from other Japanese crossovers is the original multimedia screen, placed in a kind of «pocket» on top of the front panel.

The center console contains only a narrow climate control unit, and the air intake on it has been shifted towards the instrument panel.

The interior of the crossover is notable for the fact that, despite the compact size of the car, it houses a wide transmission tunnel with a four-wheel drive control washer.

The rear sofa is too close to the front seats due to its small wheelbase. For the same reason, the boot volume does not exceed 430 liters.

Sales start

The updated Japanese crossover is delivered to the markets of Japan, the USA and Europe. The timing of the appearance of the model in Russia Mazda has not yet reported anything.
