Mazda CX-5 2021 — A modified crossover.
In recent years, the Japanese from Mazda are not encouraging. It is unclear what game they are playing. Recall at least the last statement about the deliberate braking of technologies in the field of electrification, you see then there will be nothing to show and in general consumers need to be metered.

And now the second news is the restyling of the CX-5 crossover, which is a complete zero in terms of innovations in technology.
However, Mazda remains world-famous companies.

So, since restyling saw the light, the goal was not to attract attention, which the manufacturer does not need at all, but to correct and refine what is already there.
And spot corrections are actually a lot, and in particular they will be discussed below.

Technical stuffing

And so, what is remarkable for the Mazda CX-5 (meaning the model as a whole, and not a new restyling). The Japanese are proud that their crossover is the most economical in its class, when compared with the engine size and dynamic characteristics.

Indeed, not a single mid-size SUV comes to mind, which would have a 2-liter naturally aspirated engine with a power of 150 hp, four-wheel drive and an automatic transmission, while the fuel consumption was 6.7 liters already in the city limits.

So you can endlessly talk about an incomprehensible brand policy, but they know how to make a technique. Actually, with the announcement of restyling, the company says that its motor range is now even more economical (we are talking about the Sky Active X line).
Specific measurements have not yet been given, but before the first test drives are already close (in a press release, savings of 0.5-0.8 liters are announced).

There is nothing more to say about the new product in terms of technology, so briefly recall the main points of the predecessor:

The trolley is based on an independent suspension (front MacPherson struts, rear multi-link);
Power steering — electric;
Ventilated disc brakes on the front axle.
Motor range Mazda CX-5 2021 consists of two power units. The first was mentioned above. The second has a similar architecture (4 cylinders in a row), but with a volume of more than 2.5 liters.
Power, of course, grows to 194 hp. (Like consumption — 7.4 l.) There are two transmissions: a 6-band automatic and 6-speed manual. The default front-wheel drive. Full connects with clutch.

Airborne equipment

The list of onboard equipment also has adjustments. In addition to the standard list of passive systems, power accessories and multimedia features, are mentioned:
Steering damper;
Pedestrian recognition at night at speeds up to 80 km / h;
New light sensor (works at around 2000 lm);
The ability to shift gears using the steering wheel paddles.

Two other new features can also be mentioned here. Now the SUV has the opportunity to simulate differential locks and a system for deactivating 1 and 4 cylinders (and this is in a row “four”).

Body and dimensions

Although the overall appearance of the crossover remained unchanged, if you compare the passport data of the new product and its predecessor, several interesting details come to light:

the length was cut by 1 cm;
width increased by 0.5 cm;
clearance increased by 2 cm;
thanks to the use of the new alloy, the body was reinforced by 15%;
the pillars of the windshield have filled up even more;
the roof slope also increased by a couple of degrees;
the hood received new ribs and a tilt angle;
Aft now updated nameplates indicating the engine line.

Additionally, the manufacturer now offers another color of enamel — Polymetal Gray Metallic.

The architecture of the cabin also remained at its own. But the exact same changes are enough:

The touchscreen of the multimedia has increased to 8 inches (previously it was 7);
There was a contour LED backlight;
The new interface of the «wells» of analog tidy;
Luggage capacity increased by 3 liters.

Also now you can order a combined trim from suede and eco-leather. Plus now an additional layer of sound insulation in the form of a film is laid.


The competition is also nothing new, the list is still the same: Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, Kia Sportage and Ford Escape. However, in defense of the CX-5, it is worth noting that competitors are not only less economical, but also do not offer the same level of equipment as the guys from Mazda do.

Price and sales start date

The start of sales of the Mazda CX-5 restyling of the 2021st model year is scheduled for August this year. At least it was promised by European dealers.
In Russia, the novelty also will not be long in coming. SUV will appear on our market in early autumn.
The update did not affect the final price. The cheapest Drive equipment will cost 1.4 million rubles, the Supreme Supreme — 1.9 million.
