The Nissan GT-R sports car will be refreshed in Australia by 2022 before it is finally gone.
Nissan Australia will say goodbye to the R35-generation GT-R with two limited editions that will hit the local market in October.
Shortly after it was confirmed that the GT-R would be discontinued because it didn’t meet new side-impact crash-test rules, information emerged about the «farewell» editions: these are the limited edition T-spec and Nismo SV.
The Nissan GT-R T-spec models that will make it to Australia are identical to those that will appear in other markets, including Japan and the United States.
Meanwhile, the GT-R Nismo SV is the same as the 2022 GT-R Nismo model recently introduced in Japan.
At the heart of the GT-R lineup in Australia is the 2022 GT-R Premium, priced from A$193,800 (nearly 10.32 million rubles).
It features a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 561 horsepower combined with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
For an additional A$6,000, buyers can get the keys to the GT-R Premium Luxury, which adds leather trim to the seats, steering wheel, gear lever, dashboard and door cards.
The GT-R T-spec comes standard with gold alloy wheels and larger carbon-ceramic Brembo brake discs.
It also features a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and a dark green cabin with stitched alcantara quilted upholstery and suede front struts.
Local prices for the T-spec start at 256,700 Australian dollars (almost 13.67 million rubles).
The last two variants are the 2022 Nismo and Nismo SV at A$378,000 (20.13 million rubles) and A$393,800 (20.97 million rubles) respectively.
Both have the same 591 hp and are adorned with lots of new aerodynamic details.
The Australian Nismo SV is similar to the Japanese GT-R Nismo «Special Edition,» which means it adds a clear-coated carbon fiber hood and exclusive 20-inch Rays forged aluminum wheels.
This race features a Nissan GT-R with 1,600, 1,000 and 650 horsepower.
Carwow’s overseas YouTube channel has published a video showing three different Nissan GT-Rs competing against each other with 1,600 hp, 1,000 hp and 650 hp.
Does more power really translate into faster lap times on a race track or acceleration to top speed on a limited stretch of road?
To find out, the Carwow team from the YouTube channel of the same name put three modified Nissan GT-Rs together for an interesting experiment. Each Nissan GT-R has been modified and has more power than the standard version of this supercar.
The first of the cars boasts a relatively modest 650 horsepower relative to its competitors.
There is also Nissan GT-R with 1000 horsepower, and the third participant of the competition has some insane 1650 horsepower.
The latter also got radial brakes and tires more suitable for drag racing.
The Nissan GT-R generation R35 has been sold worldwide since 2009.
This legendary «supercar fighter» has quickly gained its reputation. Over the past 12 years, Nissan GT-R modifications have reached new levels of power and reliability.
The result has been the modified Nissan GT-R, which typically produces about 1,000 horsepower and beats almost all of its competitors in straight-line racing.
In the early days of the R35 modifications, many owners had transmission problems, where even production cars could tear transmission assemblies during the start.
Fortunately, Nissan found a way to make the drivetrain more durable, and even various tuning companies found ways to ensure the Nissan GT-R could reliably launch with more than 1,000 horsepower.
