The fourth generation of the brutal Japanese road conqueror with the proud name «Pathfinder» after restyling acquired the status of a full-fledged crossover.
So, the Nissan Pathfinder 2022 model year got rid of the frame weighting structure and unnecessarily aggressive exterior parts, but it visually became more voluminous and roomy.
The salon has indeed become larger, despite the fact that the weight of the novelty has decreased to 1880 kg, the aerodynamic characteristics have improved, and the level of comfort has become an order of magnitude higher.
In addition, the novelty will obviously not get lost in the stream, and the cost of all this will be quite adequate, which will allow the car not only to retain its former fans, but also to attract new admirers.
Exterior
The photos available on the Internet allow you to form an idea of the new product as a bright, elegant and modern car that has embodied in its appearance both the latest design trends and the authentic features of the Nissan brand.
The front part looks the most interesting in the new model. It is set high and looks powerful and brutal, drawing attention to the muscular sidewalls of the slightly rounded bonnet towards the front of the hood.
Immediately below it flaunts a huge trapezoid of the radiator grill, the shape of which is emphasized at the bottom and sides by a powerful chrome strip.
The grille itself features a large-mesh black plastic pattern and a large Nissan badge in the middle. To the right and to the left, it is closely adjacent to the «layered» head optics with high-quality LED filling.
Below, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder boasts a large, sleek bumper with slight sloping extensions at the very bottom.
There is also a wide black-plastic diffuser with round fog lights and a small black mesh covering the additional air intake. A rather harmonious look is completed by a wide metal protective plate.
The sides of the new body look very presentable due to the large number of chrome-plated decorative parts and a nice combination of smoothly rolling and chopped relief.
The profile part begins with silver roof rails that emphasize the sloping roofline. Below it, it all merges into a stern windowed figure in black-plastic edging that rises slightly towards the back.
Large attractive mirrors, circular wheel arches with bright discs, chrome door handles and stripes on the bottom of the doors complete the look.
And the off-road character of the crossover is hinted at by a powerful protective layer along the lower edge of the fenders and sills.
There is no need to count on any major changes at the back. The feed begins with an oversized spoiler, on which there is a place for stop lights.
It covers a relatively large glass. Immediately below it, the main part of the tailgate with a modest relief and large trapezoidal side lights begins, delivered almost vertically.
The rear body kit, like the front, turned out to be quite large, but it does not contain many elements: fog lights, as well as a protective insert, separated from the rest of the body by a chrome line.
Interior
The interior of the new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is slightly more modest than the exterior.
In particular, among the finishing materials you can find only fabric, eco-leather and plastic, however, of decent quality.
The number of seats has grown to seven, and the multimedia equipment has received new useful functions, which allows us to talk about some progress in the cabin.
Control and management bodies
Directly in front of the driver is a medium-sized steering wheel with a chubby rim and an abundance of auxiliary buttons on the side spokes, and immediately behind it is a large, classic-looking instrument panel.
Below you can see a few air vents, and between them in the center is a mid-sized infotainment monitor. Then there were several blocks of buttons for adjusting the climate system and other essential comfort elements.
The central tunnel of the car consists of a technical unit with an elegant transmission selector, a recess for small things, an organizer, and a comfortable armrest, in the depths of which there is a cooled glove compartment.
Seats and luggage compartment
The car is equipped with seven seats, sheathed with fabric or eco-leather, containing a soft filler and having a rather comfortable shape.
The front row seats are distinguished by developed lateral support, and also contain ventilation, heating and height adjustment systems.
The second row sofa provides for an easy change in the angle of inclination of the backrest, as well as a folding armrest in the place of the central passenger. Separate third-row seats will be comfortable only for children, since there is not much space there.
When the car is fully loaded with people, the trunk volume does not exceed 450 liters. But by adding the second and third rows, this figure can be increased fourfold!
Specifications
The crossover is distinguished by its long length — more than 5 meters — and an impressive 180 mm ground clearance.
The heart of the Nissan Pathfinder 2022 in the base is a 3.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 249 «horses», paired with a continuously variable variator.
In addition, a hybrid engine with a total output of 254 horsepower is available. Here, the variator will also act as an intermediary between the motor and the wheels. And the all-wheel drive system will be installed on all cars, regardless of the configuration.
As the test drive showed, the car can easily pick up speed, while consuming relatively little fuel, and cope with most road situations both in the city and on the highway, and in light off-road conditions.
Options and prices
The cost of the simplest of the four possible configurations of the new Pathfinder will come close to 2.7 million rubles.
The price of the most sophisticated versions will be about 400 thousand more units of the domestic currency.
Sales start in Russia
According to preliminary information, the release date of the updated car in Russia will take place in early summer 2021.
Competing models
Among the closest competitors of the brutal Japanese are the Audi Q5, Cherie Exid VX, Peugeot 3008, and Lamborghini Urus.
