Volkswagen Passat 2024.

Volkswagen recently stopped supplying the Passat sedan to the world market.

But almost immediately after it became known that the manufacturer will continue to develop this model.

Moreover, the new generation Volkswagen Passat 2024 has already been out on road tests. Thanks to this, some details of the interior design became known.

The published photos show that the Passat’s interior will evolve towards minimalism.

The interior of the German model will be completely redesigned: it will lose most of the controls.

The sedan will get two relatively large displays, one of which will give access to basic functions. This monitor will be designed in the style of electric cars of VW ID lineup.

The decision looks more unexpected, if to take into account, that many owners of electric models of the brand complain about discomfort of such screen for climate adjustment.

But, apparently, Volkswagen is set to continue using this interior design.

The second important change is the relocation of the transmission lever. If the actual model has it on the transmission tunnel, the novelty has it on the steering column.

This solution is characteristic for American-made cars. Therefore, perhaps the new Passat will focus on the U.S.

The steering wheel of the German model is slightly different from the one installed on the current version.

But Volkswagen did not change its design dramatically. There are touch buttons on the steering wheel to control inbuilt functions.

It is already known that Passat with the change of generations will slightly increase in size.

The future version of the German model will be the last equipped with an internal combustion engine. It is expected that the next Passat will be available only as a station wagon.

The current generation of the VW Passat has been on the market since 2014. Now it’s time for a new model.

The successor, called the B9, will probably only come out as a station wagon called the Variant, but we will have to wait a long time before the official release.

One reason for the delay is a change in the factory production plan.

Passat has to leave its previous plant in Emden because it is going to produce the new ID.4 electric SUV and a production model of the ID Space Vizzion electric station wagon.

Passat has chosen a new location for production of its cars in Bratislava, Slovakia.

There it will develop the new Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat B9 together with Skoda. The Passat should take over the wheelbase of the Superb and thus the car will become five centimeters longer (up to 4.85 meters) in length.

With the extra centimeters the wheelbase of the car will also be increased. The Golf Variant (station wagon), which has also become longer, has recently come close to the Passat.

All changes will benefit especially the rear passengers and the trunk.

The trunk will probably hold just over 1,800 liters, currently at 1,780 liters.

However, the design of the front end and the interior should be based on the Golf 8 and future models.

The new Passat will use the MQB platform from the Golf 8 station wagon. Two two-liter diesel engines with about 150 and 200 hp are possible in the equipment, as well as classic gasoline engines with 150 and 220 hp, plug-in hybrids with two power levels — 250 hp and 200 hp.

With a plug-in electric engine module, the driving range with a 20 kWh battery can reach 100 kilometers on a single battery charge.

And VW is likely to improve the charging technology: instead of 3.6 kW it will be 11 kW, which will lead to fast charging of the car’s battery.

The base price of the Volkswagen Passat B9 will go up. The Passat will become more expensive, the approximate price of the car will be from 35,000 euros or from 3136182 rubles for the car in the top equipment.
