The debut of the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan with an autonomous driving system took place.

IT giant Xiaomi presented its first electric car Xiaomi SU7. Local auto giant BAIC will be responsible for the production of the sedan, writes Car News China.

The new battery selenium Xiaomi SU7 reaches a length of 4.9 meters with a wheelbase of three meters.

It relies on 19 or 20-inch wheels, as well as a modern lidar, which is used to operate the autonomous driving system.

The computer vision system is located behind the windshield, and there is a place for the camera on the side pillar. The new product also has a facial recognition system in its arsenal.

Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with an electric motor TZ220XS000, the assembly of which is carried out by United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. They are going to release it under a contract.

You can buy the first Xiaomi electric car in two versions: rear-wheel drive with 300 horsepower or all-wheel drive with 673 horsepower. Batteries were ordered from BYD and CATL — the brand of battery depends on the configuration.

The electric sedan can accelerate to 210 km/h. Serial assembly of Xiaomi SU7 is scheduled for December this year. The first deliveries are announced for February.

So far, the BAIC company in Beijing has launched a test assembly of a new electric sedan — we are talking about a modest batch of several dozen cars.

Xiaomi has declassified its first car. But she won’t be the one collecting it. Sales will begin in February next year.

The appearance and characteristics of the first Xiaomi car have been revealed.

They were published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which approves the machines before entering the Chinese market.

The smartphone maker’s first car was a sedan called the SU7, equipped with lidar and an electric powertrain that produces 673 horsepower at the top.

However, Xiaomi will not assemble it itself: contract production will be set up by the auto giant BAIC.

The futuristic electric car with which Xiaomi will enter the automotive market was previously known under the internal names MS11 and Modena.

This is a large sedan that is larger than the Hyundai Sonata: it is almost five meters long (4997 millimeters), and the width and height are 1963 and 1455 millimeters, respectively, with a three-meter wheelbase. Wheel sizes — 19 and 20 inches to choose from, tires — 245/45 and 245/40.

There are three configurations in total — the regular SU7, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max, but what will be included in each is still unclear.

Some options will have a lidar installed behind the windshield, a camera on the front side pillar that can recognize the owner by sight, and an active wing.

There will also be a built-in transponder for paying for travel on toll roads — it is already promised in the “base”.

The interior can only be seen in spy shots for now. It shows a compact digital instrument panel, a large touch screen tablet for the multimedia system and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, flattened at the bottom.

The power plant will be offered in two versions: rear-wheel drive with 300 horsepower and 673 horsepower with all-wheel drive.

The electric motors will be supplied by Shanghai-based United Automotive Electronics. The curb weight of the rear-wheel drive SU7 is 1980 kilograms, and the maximum speed is 210 kilometers per hour.

The top version is heavier (2205 kilograms), but also faster: it can accelerate to 265 kilometers per hour.

The batteries are also different. The entry-level setup comes with a BYD lithium iron phosphate battery, and the high-power setup comes with a lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery from CATL.

The capacity and range are unknown, although earlier insiders spoke of a 101-kilowatt traction battery and 800 kilometers on a single charge. Information also leaked about an advanced autopilot and a multimedia system on Xiaomi OS.

Production of Xiaomi SU7 will start in December 2023, and sales will begin in February 2024. The BAIC plant in Beijing has already assembled several dozen test units.
