Audi Q4 e-tron 2021.

Electric crossover with a power reserve of 520 km.

Audi has expanded its EV lineup with the 2021 Audi Q4 e-tron and Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron battery-powered crossovers.

«Ku-fourth» with a classic body is the closest relative of the Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq iV models, which have not yet managed to acquire coupe-like versions, that is, here Audi was one step ahead.

However, the Sportback will only go on sale this fall, while its sibling will debut in June. The assembly of new products will be carried out at a plant in Zwickau, Germany.

Prices for both models for Europe have already been announced. The standard Audi Q4 e-tron 2021 is offered for 41,900 euros, the coupe Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron for 43,900 euros.

Exterior design and dimensions

Audi’s new electric compacts look sturdy with muscular side panels, large wheels and short body overhangs. At the front, in place of the grille, there is a plug with the brand logo that masks the sensors of electronic systems.

In the «base» cars receive LED optics, but more advanced matrix headlights are optionally available. They have four patterns of running lights that can be switched between using the MMI touch system.

The rear of the Sportback is sloped in a coupé style, so the spoiler is located at the bottom of the glass in the fifth door.

The taillights have the same graphics as the regular Audi Q4 e-tron. The lighting technology, stretched over the entire width of the body, greets and escorts the driver with characteristic animation.

Eight colors have been prepared for new products, as well as two additional packages of external decor — Advanced and S line.

Buyers will also be able to choose between several options for 19-21-inch wheels.
In terms of dimensions, the Audi Q4 e-tron sits exactly between the Q3 and Q5.

The base crossover is 4588 mm long, 1865 mm wide, and 1632 mm high. The wheelbase is 2764 mm. In the coupe model, the roof is 18 mm lower (the height is 1614 mm), which contributes to better streamlining of the body.

As a result, the Sportback has a drag coefficient of 0.26 versus 0.28 for the classic Q4 e-tron.

Options and trunk

The salon of the new Audi electric cars has an original architecture. The front panel is arranged here so that passengers have more space.

However, due to the equipment shifted into the engine compartment, there is no room for the luggage compartment in front.

The base of the center console has received a non-standard two-tier configuration: on top there is a push-button transmission control unit, on the bottom there is a compartment for wireless charging of smartphones.

The tunnel between the seats houses USB-C ports (two or four), a pair of cup holders and a 4.4-liter box.

The basic equipment of the new Audi Q4 e-tron includes a digital instrument panel with a 10.25 «screen and a media system with a 10.1» display.

Optional equipment includes a media center with an 11.6-inch touchscreen, a steering wheel with touch-sensitive buttons, a head-up display with augmented reality, and a new Sonos speaker system.

The set of electronic assistants includes panoramic cameras, adaptive cruise control, and driver monitoring. Interior materials — microfiber, imitation leather and nappa leather. Some upholstery is partially made from recycled materials.

The rear row of seats is set seven centimeters higher than the front row. The backrests are folded in parts (proportions 40:20:40), forming an almost flat area for the load.

Trunk volume is impressive: in the standard Audi Q4 e-tron it varies from 520 to 1490 liters, in the coupe Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron — from 535 to 1460 liters.

Audi Q4 40 e-tron: engine — 204 hp and 310 Nm, drive — rear, battery — 77 kW * h, mileage on one charge — 520 km, acceleration to «hundreds» — 8.5 seconds, maximum speed — 160 km / h;

Audi Q4 50 e-tron quattro: rear engine — 204 hp and 310 Nm, the front engine — 109 hp. and 162 Nm, the total output of a pair of engines is 299 hp. and 460 Nm, drive — full, battery capacity — 77 kWh, cruising range — 488 km for a standard crossover and 497 km for a coupe-like version, spurt from standstill to 100 km / h — 6.2 seconds, top speed — 180 km / h .

The battery of electric cars can be charged both from a household outlet and from DC terminals with a capacity of up to 100 or 125 kW.

When connected to a 125 kW station, the battery capacity increases from 5 to 80% in 38 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes to extend the range by 130 km.

By default, the brothers Audi Q4 e-tron and Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron are equipped with independent suspension with MacPherson struts and rear multi-link.

For a surcharge, a «sports» suspension with an understatement of 15 mm (included in the S-line package) and an adaptive chassis with adjustable shock absorbers are offered.
