Chevrolet Onix 2023.

The demand for the new four-door is high among Uzbek customers, although the prices are exclusive of VAT. The model is available to order with a choice of two engines.

On November 1, UzAuto Motors Company began taking orders for its Chevrolet Onix compact sedan, which is built on the same GEM platform as the current generation Chevrolet Tracker crossover.

As with the Parkett, local production of the four-door will be available to buyers, but mass production of the Onix won’t begin until early next year in the neighboring country (the Tracker has been produced there since the summer).

Nevertheless, the wait is not scary for Uzbek customers: UzAuto Motors said that the sedan collected more than 13,500 orders in just half a day.

However, the company immediately clarified that «despite the large number of signed contracts, practice shows that up to 60% of contracts are cancelled due to lack of payment.»

In other words, there may be fewer actual orders, but the delivery time will be shorter.

In terms of dimensions, the Chevrolet Onix is comparable to our pre-styled Lada Vesta. The length of the Chevy sedan is 4474 mm, width — 1730 mm, height — 1471 mm, wheelbase — 2600 mm. The volume of the trunk is 469 liters.

In Uzbekistan, the Onix is offered with a three-cylinder gasoline engine «atmospheric» 1.2 and its turbo version with the power of 90 and 132 hp respectively.

The naturally-aspirated engine is combined with a five-speed «manual», and the «turbo» version with a conventional six-speed «automatic». By the way, the 1.2T and the 6ACP have only the upper sedan.

For now, the Onyx is available for order in five configurations, but the cheapest — it is called Simplified — will enter production only if enough requests are collected.

At the same time, the most popular variant, according to UzAuto Motors, is now the most «luxurious», with turbo engine and automatic — it accounts for 55% of all signed contracts.

And we would also like to note that the company has indicated the prices excluding VAT: converted from Uzbek currency at the current exchange rate, the sedan costs about 606,000 to 910,000 rubles (taking into account the «simplified» equipment).

The same «simplified» Chevrolet Onix has 15-inch wheels, two airbags, ABS and ESC.

All other versions are also equipped with an alarm system, air conditioning, height and elevation adjustable steering column, electrically adjustable mirrors, height adjustable driver’s seat and default speed limiter.

There is a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen. The more expensive versions come with the lift assist system, heated front seats, rear parking control and cruise control.

In 2023, the Uzbek Onix will receive new equipment: air conditioning, front parking sensors, heated rear seats and sunroof.

Meanwhile, the Chevy economy sedan will also be assembled in Kazakhstan — a small assembly will be done at the Allur plant in Kostanay.

Exact launch dates have not yet been announced. It is possible that in Kazakhstan, the production of four-door vehicles will also begin next year.

Before the known events, the Chevrolet Onix manufactured in Uzbekistan was expected in Russia (as well as the crossover Tracker).

But then General Motors completely withdrew its brands from the Russian market. In addition, according to unofficial data, the Americans have banned UzAuto Motors from supplying Chevi-related models to Russia.

However, some Russian dealers may well take the risk to start supplying new economy cars through parallel imports.
