JAC S4 2022 crossover is coming to the Russian market.

The Chinese company JAC has announced the release of three models on our market.

They have not yet appeared on the market, but one of them was certified in December last year: the website of Rosstandart published the vehicle type approval for the compact crossover JAC S4.

This car debuted in 2020, and in China it is called the JAC Jiayue X4, but for our market will be used index S4, in fact it is perelizovannaya and more expensive variant parketnik JAC Refine S4 (it is already removed from production).

In terms of dimensions it is a classmate of Kia Seltos or Skoda Karoq: length — 4410 mm, width — 1800 mm, height — 1660 mm.

Rear suspension is semi-independent, front wheel drive only, and the wheels can be 17 or 18 inches in diameter. Towing of trailers is not provided in the vehicle documents.

Modifications with two engines to choose from are certified for the Russian market.

The first one is an atmospheric 1.6 engine (109 hp, 150 Nm) with non-alternative six-speed «manual».

The second is a turbo four 1.5 (136 hp, 200 Nm) with a distributed injection, which offers not only a manual gearbox, but also a variator Punch.

As for equipment, the document specifies climate control, parktronic, navigation and a rear view camera.

Like other JAC models, S4 crossovers will be delivered to us from Kazakhstan: SaryarkaAvtoprom in Kostanai will assemble it, though even in the domestic market this crossover has not yet appeared.

The GTS is already in effect and valid until the end of 2024, but the sales launch date has not been announced yet.

The range of engines for our market has already been declassified. JAC S4 crossover, the production of which is organized in Kazakhstan, has received vehicle type approval — a document required for sales of any new model in Russia.

Portal «Chinese cars» found out that at least three examples of S4 are already in the country and put on record — they are designed for various tests and marketing activities.

It is expected that the novelty will appear at dealers in the spring, but there is no official confirmation of this yet.

The Russian representative office of JAC announced the appearance of S4 back in 2020, but since then there was no new information about the model.

Now, thanks to certification documents from the open database of Rosstandart, the range of engines for the crossover for our market has been revealed.

S4 will be offered in two modifications: with a 1.5-liter turbo engine capacity of 136 horsepower and «atmospheric» 1.6 with 109 horsepower.

The first one is combined both with a six-speed manual gearbox, and with a variator Punch, and the second one will be paired only with «manual». Drive is only front-wheel drive.

For JAC S4 claimed power steering, electric parking brake, 17- or 18-inch wheels, climate control, and optional parking sensors, cruise control, navigation system and rear view camera.

Prices and equipment will be revealed closer to the launch of the model on the market.

JAC S4 is already on sale in Kazakhstan and China, and in the Chinese market the model is known under the index X4.

The cost of the crossover makes from 72.8 to 99.8 thousand yuan or from 5 to 6.9 million tenge, which is from 850 thousand to 1.2 million in ruble equivalent at the current rate.

So far the lineup of JAC in Russia includes five models: S3 crossover, S7 five- and seven-seat crossover, J7 liftback, T6 pickup and iEV7S electric car.
