Introduced Lucid Air in the new Sapphire top version: three motors and 1,200 hp.
The Americans from Lucid Motors have prepared the flagship Sapphire version for their electric sedan Air.
The novelty is the first-born of the eponymous sub-brand, under which the company plans to produce the most powerful modifications.
Visually, Lucid Air Sapphire can be distinguished from the younger versions by an exclusive body shade «Sapphire Blue».
Plus such four-door is more developed carbon fiber dodger.
The car is equipped with new 20- and 21-inch wheels at the front and rear, respectively.
They come with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Interestingly, the developers plan to install aerodynamic hubcaps made of carbon fiber.
The top version’s interior is trimmed in black leather with contrasting blue stitching.
The cabin has sports seats, dashboard and multimedia screens with special graphics.
The Air Sapphire 2023 is powered by three electric motors.
One of the units is installed in the front, while the other two — in the rear, and the latter are able to transfer torque to the wheels in opposite directions.
This increases the stability of the car in turns and while driving in a straight line.
Besides, when making sharp turns, the electronics can apply regenerative braking on the inside wheel and simultaneously give more traction to the outside wheel, which contributes to higher maneuverability.
In total, these engines produce 1,200 hp, which means we have the world’s most powerful production electric sedan.
Unfortunately, its exact dynamic characteristics haven’t been announced yet.
However, the manufacturer hinted that the four-door can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 2.0 seconds and covers a distance of a quarter of a mile (402 meters) in 9.0 seconds.
It is known that the top version of the model has a stiffer suspension and carbon ceramic brakes.
The set of electronic assists is with revised settings.
Lucid Air Sapphire will be released in limited edition at a price of $249,000 (14.8 million rubles at current exchange rates).
Deliveries of the first four-door to customers will begin in 2023.
