The updated Renault Trafic minivan will start in 2021.
The premiere of the updated Traffic will take place in early 2021 (sales in Europe are promised from March).
But Renault made a preliminary presentation today as Trafic celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2020. During its career, the model lived to the third generation (X82) and found more than two million owners in 50 countries. Congratulations.
Restyling brought the base Combi and the SpaceClass business shuttle a revised exterior and interior design, as well as an additional dCi 150 diesel, adaptive cruise control, auto braking and blind spot monitoring.
The salon, as before, accommodates up to nine people. The front panel is completely replaced. The central display is separated from the climate control, the diagonal has grown by an inch (up to eight).
The new Easy Link media center is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a wireless charger for smartphones.
The added 1.7 dCi diesel engine (150 hp, 340 N • m), which mates with a six-speed «mechanics» and «robot» EDC with two clutches, will replace the 1.6 dCi 145 engine (the number means power) and will be located in the middle of the line of units.
From below it will be supported by dCi 110 (only «on the handle»), and from above by dCi 170 (only with EDC). The current Trafic costs 33,100–49,000 euros in France (3.07–4.55 million rubles). About 15,000 Traffic is sold worldwide every year.
The audience is considered to be professionals in the field of passenger transportation and large families. The minivan is not available in Russia.
The «more expressive» front end includes new components: a raised bonnet, LED headlights, an almost vertical grille and a bumper.
At the stern, only the graphics of the lanterns have changed. Wheels are 17-inch. Rouge Carmin’s red body color is also new.
The novelty differs from the pre-reform version in terms of the exterior by a different head LED C-Shape optics (the running lights are made in the shape of the letter C), a chrome-plated radiator grille with large horizontal louvres, a front bumper with sharp corners of air intakes, and new design R17 wheels.
The body of the Trafic will be painted in an additional color — bright red metallic Carmin Red.
If earlier round lines dominated in the interior, now there are fewer of them: the multimedia system on the dorestyling car was mounted in the center console and emphasized with a round ornament, and on the sides of it were oval climate control deflectors, now the screen of the new Easy Link media system has acquired a rectangular shape and carried out for the torpedo.
In addition, he acquired support for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols, and the vents on the sides of it became rectangular.
The climate control control unit, the gearshift lever, the multifunction steering wheel have also been updated, and wireless charging for gadgets has appeared.
Prestige Pack and Adventurer Pack are available for a surcharge. The first includes comfortable «captain» seats in the back, and the Adventurer Pack also folds into the third row.
Under the hood, Traffic has no major changes, they only concern the power of the diesel unit: if in the pre-styling version it developed 120, 145 or 170 forces, then with the update the output of the engines is 110, 150 and 170 forces, respectively.
The basic 110-horsepower modification works exclusively with 6-speed «mechanics», the 150-horsepower engine also has a 6-range «robot» to choose from, the 170-horsepower version is content only with a robotic box.
The engine received support for the advanced Euro 6D Full environmental class, as well as the Stop & Start system, which muffles it at traffic lights (in versions with automatic transmission).
Deliveries of the restyled Traffic will begin next year, and prices will be published at the same time.
