The public premiere of the car was supposed to take place within the framework of the Geneva Motor Show, canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic.

The novelty is distinguished from its platform «donor» by an aerodynamic body kit made of composite materials with a modified front splitter, upgraded bumpers and other side «skirts».

At the same time, its main element was the active rear wing, which, depending on the angle of inclination, performs different functions — from additional cooling of the engine compartment to an air brake.

McLaren 765LT received a four-liter V8 engine with two turbines, developing 765 hp. with. and 800 N • m of torque — 45 forces and 40 N • m more than the base 720S.

The engine works in conjunction with a seven-speed «robot» with two clutches, which changes gears 15% faster than the old box.

The supercar is capable of gaining the first «hundred» in 2.7 seconds, and it takes 7.2 seconds to accelerate to 200 km / h. The coupe travels a drag distance of a quarter mile (402 m) in less than 10 seconds, and its top speed is 330 km per hour.

The use of a carbon fiber body kit, composite seat frames, special aluminum rims and a titanium exhaust system made the car almost 80 kg lighter than the standard 720S.

The McLaren 765LT turned out to be even faster than the company had anticipated.

McLaren Automotive has announced that it is ready to begin delivering the 765LT supercar to its first customers.

Recall that the novelty itself is a lighter and more powerful version of the 720S. The McLaren 765LT has an all-carbon body, and McLaren Special Operations (MSO) specialists were involved in creating the supercar’s exterior.

In particular, they developed several exclusive body shades for the two-door at once.

Separately, it is worth noting the color scheme called «Strata». It is a tricolor, where black stripes symbolize city skyscrapers against an orange-red sunset sky.

It is reported that a similar pattern is applied by hand, while specialists are required to do this for about 390 hours.

The McLaren 765LT is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 765 hp. and 800 Nm. This unit works in conjunction with a seven-speed gearbox with two clutches.

Thanks to the efforts of the British brand’s engineers, the new supercar weighs just 1,229 kg (- 80 kg compared to the 720S).

According to official information, the new 765LT is capable of accelerating from zero to hundreds in 2.8 seconds.

The car takes the bar of 200 km / h 7.0 seconds after the start, which makes it for 0.2 seconds. faster than 720S.

To accelerate from 0-300 km / h, the two-door only needs 18.0 seconds. According to this indicator, the model surpassed the Senna supercar (-0.8), it takes 9.9 seconds to overcome a quarter mile (402 meters).

It is reported that in total the British will release 765 copies of the McLaren 765LT, the first customers will receive their cars in October, while the number of orders for 2021 already exceeds the company’s production plan.
