Suzuki Escudo 2023.

The Suzuki Escudo crossover has returned to the home of the brand as a four-wheel drive hybrid.

In Japan, the Parkett is offered with a single rich set, but it will still have to pay extra for a multimedia system.

The name Escudo is used by Suzuki on home market: earlier it was used for Vitara SUV there, and since 2015 it is internal designation of Vitara parkettes.

By the way, the first three generations of the Escudo were produced in the homeland of the brand, but the crossover was supplied there from the Hungarian plant.

At the end of last year, deliveries were stopped. Now Suzuki has announced return of the crossover to Japan.

The European Vitara has recently received a hybrid version, and only hybrid is available for Japanese now.

Such Suzuki Escudo has petrol «atmospheric» K15C 1.5 (101 hp and 132 Nm), six-step robotized gearbox ASG with one clutch, 33 hp electric motor (60 Nm) and a battery capacity of only 0.84 kW*h (it is installed under the floor).

And also in Japan the crossover is all-wheel drive by default — with the firm system AllGrip with a clutch on the rear axle.

We shall note that in the Old World hybrid Suzuki Vitara can be front-wheel drive, besides Europeans can also buy a crossover with turbo engine 1,4 Boosterjet and starter-generator.

Escudo is available only in one rich set, the list of equipment includes: LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, auto brake system, lane-keeping system, blind spot monitoring, automatic headlight switching and traffic sign detection.

But for the multimedia system, traditionally for Japan, you have to pay extra.

The Suzuki Escudo hybrid crossover costs 2,970,000 yen (about $23,000) and the sales plan in Japan is only 1,200 units a year.

The Vitara does not have a hybrid version in Russia. In the Russian market the model is presented with petrol «atmospheric» 1.6 (117 hp) and turbo 1.4 (140 hp).

The first engine is paired with 5-speed «manual» or six-speed «automatic», the second is combined only with 6ACP.

Drive is either front or all-wheel drive. Price according to the price list — from 2 169 000 rubles (2021 model year).

Meanwhile in March it became known that due to break of logistic chains company Suzuki has suspended deliveries of cars in Russia; no news about their resumption has been heard yet.

At the same time, the local Suzuki office told Kolos in March that the stock of already imported cars will be enough «for several months».
