BMW 5 series Touring 2023. BMW is preparing the next generation 5 series Touring.

It is expected that already in 2024 on the European market will appear the novelty of the German brand with an internal combustion engine, as well as its fully electric version — i5 Touring.

Bavarian manufacturer manufactures its «five» since 1972, over the years the model had time to change the generation six times.

BMW 5 series of the current seventh generation was presented in October 2016, sales started in the first quarter of 2017.

Sales of the model in Europe have been gradually declining over the past few years.

So, at the end of 2021, Old World dealers sold 52,936 copies, 11.5% less than a year earlier.

At the end of 11 months of 2022, the «Five» sold 46,842 units (-5.4%).

Now BMW continues to develop a new generation of Five which is produced in body styles sedan and wagon.

Previously spies have already caught prototypes of the future novelties on public roads during a series of tests.

It is expected that on the European market BMW 5 series eighth generation wagon will be released in 2024, then it should debut a fully electric version of the «five-door», which will receive its own name — i5 Touring.

While there is no official information about what will look like a BMW 5 Series Touring next generation.

However, the designer of the Spanish edition Motor.es has shared with us his variant of potential appearance of the future «five-door».

It is supposed that «electric station wagon» i5 Touring will have few visual differences from the version with an internal combustion engine.

The main of them will be a plug on the front end, made in the form of branded «nostrils».

Judging by the rendering, the novelty will have a completely new design of the stern. One of the most noticeable changes are the other horizontally extended taillights, which have received a narrower shape.

Between them is the logo of the Bavarian brand, on top of the tailgate is another larger spoiler.

The lower part of the bumper of the next BMW 5 series Touring can be decorated with a pair of twin exhaust pipes.

Obviously, the electric version of the Five will have a different design.

The model will get a new interior. It is assumed that a large part of the front panel will take a slightly curved display that stretches from the driver’s seat to the center console.

It will probably perform the role of a virtual «dashboard» and an infotainment system touchscreen at the same time.

According to preliminary data, the engine lineup of the new PH5 will include four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines within the «soft-hybrid» power plant.

Besides, several versions PHEV, with a rear drive and a system of a full drive xDrive are expected. All variants will be paired with an eight-speed automatic.

The BMW i5 Touring will have modifications with a single electric motor as well as a twin-engine system.

It is not excluded that the output of the top version will be close to 600 hp.

It is likely that the capacity of the traction battery will be 120 kWh, and the maximum range of the «green» station wagon on a single charge will be about 700 km.
