BYD Seal 2022.

The BYD Seal electric sedan is the second model in the brand’s «marine» lineup.

The Chinese company BYD introduced the Seal sedan, the name of which can be translated as «Seal».

The novelty is the second model in the electric Marine family (the first was Dolphin hatchback).

Exterior of the four-door is made in a fresh concept «Marine Aesthetics.

According to Wolfgang Egger, chief designer of the brand, its creation was inspired by the maritime theme.

The presented car has an athletically folded body and attracts attention with a relief hood and catchy stamping lines on the sides.

In the front bumper, as well as on the front fenders of the car you can see characteristic slits gills, which just are a reference to the maritime theme.

Interior of the new BYD Seal also has several features. For example, steering wheel’s spokes remind a tail fin and ventilation deflectors on the edges of the front panel are made in the form of side fins.

It is necessary to note the presence of separate plates of the dashboard and the multimedia system.

There is also a projection display. At the same time the «Chinese» have kept a number of physical buttons and rotating drums, while the transmission is controlled from the «crystal» joystick on the central tunnel.

Like the aforementioned hatchback, the BYD Seal is built on the new e3.0 modular platform.

The latter implies the presence of an 800-volt electric system, traction battery integrated into the power structure of the body, and a climate control system with a heat pump.

The model achieves a length of 4,800 mm, while having a wheelbase of 2 920 mm. As for the chassis, the sedan uses a double wishbone design in the front and a five-lever suspension in the rear.

It is known that the electric car has a lithium-iron-phosphate battery family Blade.

Its capacity is not disclosed, but customers can choose from several battery options.

The base four-door has a 204-horsepower electric motor located on the rear axle and is able to drive up to 550 kilometers without recharging. The more advanced rear-wheel drive version is equipped with a 313-horsepower unit and its range is 700 km.

The flagship is the all-wheel-drive sedan, which has a 218-horsepower electric motor at the front and 313 horsepower at the back.

As a whole they give out 530 «horses». With this «stuffing» electric car is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h for 3.8 seconds and its range — up to 650 km.

Of the model’s equipment it is worth noting the adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping function.

Buy BYD Seal in China will be possible at a price of 34 to 43 thousand dollars (2.5 to 3.2 million rubles at current exchange rates).

The novelty is intended to compete with the Tesla Model 3 sedan, which costs $44,000 (3.3 million rubles) in China.
