Peugeot E-308 and E-308 SW 2023. Peugeot has officially introduced two electric novelties: hatchback E-308 and station wagon E-308 SW.
Both cars differ from each other only by the shape of the rear body.
At the same time the Peugeot E-308 2023 has undergone serious changes in comparison with a hatchback and wagon of the same name.
Due to the fact that the French company has introduced electric cars, it paid much attention to the aerodynamic resistance of the body.
The engineers optimized the front end and the bottom and also offered the Peugeot E-308 with new 18-inch wheels «booted» with low-profile rubber by default.
Such a combination, according to the official statement, markedly reduced power consumption: 12.7 kWh per every 100 kilometers
The French models come with a 54-kilowatt battery that consists of 80% nickel.
Peugeot has not yet disclosed the exact range of the station wagon and hatchback. But it is known that both cars will be able to drive more than 400 kilometers without recharging.
The novelty also supports fast charging technology: it takes 25 minutes to replenish the energy from 20% to 80%.
The wagon and hatchback are powered by a 156-horsepower electric motor producing up to 260 N*m.
The integrated transmission supports four modes of operation, including the function of increased rate of energy regeneration during braking.
Inside the Peugeot E-308 in many respects resembles the hatchback with the same name. In particular, the French novelty is combined with a 10-inch touchscreen, sports steering wheel and projection display.
The manufacturer of the Peugeot E-308 does not disclose the layout of the car and the photo lineup is still scarce but the key characteristics are known: the only electric motor produces a maximum 115 kW (156 hp) and 260 Nm, at that it is emphasized that the peak torque is available from 0 km/h, that is at the start.
The 400-volt nickel-manganese-cobalt battery has a rated capacity of 54 kWh, of which 51 kWh is available to the consumer.
Estimated range on a single charge is 400 km on the WLTP cycle, it is to be confirmed in the course of certification.
The maximum charging capacity is 100 kW, it will allow recharging from 20 to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
The car’s dynamic characteristics have not yet been revealed, but we know that the driver will be able to use four driving modes — Eco, Normal, Sport and Brake, the last — a mode of maximum regenerative braking, allowing, for example, to save normal braking when going downhill on a mountain road.
Outside, Peugeot E-308 does not differ from hybrid versions except for color accents; however, the charging hatch is on the left side of hybrid versions; the electric one is on the right.
The interior has not changed fundamentally; the graphics of the dashboard and the multimedia screen have been slightly redrawn.
Peugeot E-308 will be available on the European market in the middle of next year and will be available as a hatchback and a station wagon (SW).
The Peugeot E-308 SW is being pitched as the first all-electric wagon from the European manufacturer; it will have to compete with the MG5 Electric ‘barn’ of Chinese assembly.
Official sales of the Peugeot E-308 will start in mid-2023. Prices for both models have not been announced, but they can already be ordered in some countries through the company’s website.
