Toyota Corolla GR Sport 2021.
Toyota’s Russian office announced the appearance in Russia of two models performed by GR Sport. The first should debut a sports modification of the Toyota Corolla sedan, details of which appeared on July 17.
The novelty differs from the classic four-door only in the body decor and interior trim, while there are no changes in the technique.
Although they could be expected, because the version of the Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport shown in May for the Taiwan market received a suspension with original stabilizers and shock absorbers, more suitable for active driving.
The new sports version of Corolla has been prepared not only for Russia, but also for Europe. Production of the model will start at a plant in Turkey in the fall, and sales of the car will begin in January 2021.
Prices will be announced later. The usual Toyota Corolla is now offered in Russia with a single 1.6-liter 122 hp engine. and two boxes to choose from — «mechanics» and a variator.
The cost of the sedan varies from 1,273,000 to 1,795,000 rubles. The price tag for the new Toyota Corolla GR Sport will be closer to the upper limit of this interval.
External design of the novelty
The «sporty» Corolla is designed on the outside to attract the attention of young people. Instead of chrome, black is used — it is painted in the radiator grille, mirror housings, center roof pillars and side moldings. Also, C-shaped sections at the corners of the front bumper are made in black.
Dynamic Gray enamel has been specially developed for the GR Sport version. Taking it into account, the total number of color options reaches eight, and seven shades can be combined with a contrasting black roof.
Also a distinctive feature of the Toyota Corolla GR Sport is the presence of a neat spoiler on the trunk lid. The model also gives out a characteristic nameplate at the stern. And, of course, wheels. They are exclusive for the sedan: by default, 10-spoke sizes 17 inches, optionally — 18-inches.
Interior
In the cabin of the new version of the Corolla, sports seats are installed with embossed lateral bolsters and integrated head restraints. They have a combination of fabric and synthetic leather upholstery.
Contrasting red and white stitching runs vertically in the center of the seats, the same decor is applied to the second row seats. The gear knob and steering wheel, covered in perforated leather, have exceptionally red seams.
Other interior highlights of the GR Sport version include black headliners and polished aluminum trims with GR logo on the sills. As an option, the sedan is equipped with background lighting.

The new «sports» Corolla for Europe and Russia is technically unified with the base model.
In the Old World, the car will be equipped with either a 1.6 Valvematic petrol «aspirated» (power 132 hp), or a hybrid unit based on a 1.8-liter unit (total output of 122 hp). On the Russian market, GR Sport will receive a 122-horsepower 1.6 Dual VVT-i engine.
Since there are no improvements in the technology, the dynamic characteristics will not change either.
This means that the version with a manual transmission will gain “one hundred” in 11.0 seconds, a modification with a variator in 10.8 seconds.
