The German automaker Volkswagen recently introduced the new ninth generation Volkswagen Passat B9.
The development of the new generation was carried out by Skoda. And production was located in Slovakia at the plant where Superb is assembled.
Moreover, the Passat sedan is a thing of history. The B9 will only be available as a station wagon.
Appearance
The appearance of the Volkswagen Passat 2024-2025 has become similar to the electric models of the brand, the ID family. There are almost no sharp edges and corners.
This Passat has become the most streamlined station wagon with aerodynamics (Kd) of 0.25 instead of 0.31 for the previous model.
Additionally, you can install the R-Line sports body kit with aggressive bumpers.
Wheels can be installed from 17″ to 19″; optionally, you can install IQ Light matrix headlights, which throw light at 500 meters.
Salon
Inside the Volkswagen Passat 2024-2025 there are a minimum of buttons and two separate displays for the instrument panel and for multimedia. The second one is installed directly in the center above the panel.
There is no DSG gearbox selector on the central tunnel; the control has been transferred in a modern technological manner to the steering column switch to the right of the steering wheel. The wipers are activated by the left steering column lever.
The multimedia screen has two sizes, 12.9″ and 15″, with climate control touch strips at the bottom. There are only mechanical buttons on the steering wheel; touch buttons have been removed from the steering wheel.
Platform and dimensions
The 9th generation Volkswagen Passat 2024-2025 moved to the new MQB Evo platform, after which it became larger in size and more spacious inside. The wheelbase has become longer — 2841 mm.
This increase provided additional legroom for rear passengers. The length of the Passat became 4917 mm, width — 1852 mm.
The Passat is now not a cousin, but a sibling of the Skoda Superb, which will premiere later in November.
They have the same platforms, engines, the only differences in the body are the design of the nose and rear.
The very first Passat was originally a remake of the Audi 80, the new Passat B9 is a Skoda.
Options
In the basic configuration, the new Volkswagen Passat is equipped with cruise control, parking sensors, LED optics for all lighting fixtures, an emergency braking program and monitoring the vehicle’s movement in its lane. There is also road sign recognition.
The next Business version, aimed at use by corporate clients, includes a climate control system with three zones, additional USB sockets and an electronic parking assistant.
At the very top of the equipment options are two trim levels: Elegance and the sporty R-Line. The most expensive versions have matrix headlights and seats with massage and ventilation.
An optional “smart” DCC Pro suspension with shock absorbers with two valves for compression and rebound is available. 15 operating mode options can be configured.
Motors, gearboxes and drive
For the new Passat station wagon, there are three diesel, two gasoline engines and three environmentally friendly hybrids.
The manual manual transmission is now completely abolished, and there is also no classic automatic transmission. There will only be a DSG robot. The station wagon can have either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Petrol and diesel options
Three turbodiesels and two gasoline engines are offered for installation on the new Volkswagen Passat. But the main emphasis is now on hybrids.
The production of the new Volkswagen Passat 2024-2025 will begin in the first quarter of 2024. In Germany it will be sold at a price of 40 thousand euros.
Most likely, the Germans will be willing to buy a practical station wagon, especially with a hybrid installation. The premiere show to the general public is scheduled for September 5 at the Munich Motor Show.
