Ford Explorer: restyling and special Warrior version.

In America, the current generation Ford Explorer debuted three years ago, and the time for the planned restyling has not yet come.

But the upgrade was carried out in China! Production of Explorer here since 2020 engaged in joint venture Changan Ford, and so far the local crossovers have not had too many differences from their American counterparts.

Now the Chinese Ford Explorer has found its own face. Literally.

It has a wider grille, a new bumper with vertical «fangs» around the edges and other headlights.

At the same time, do not say that the updated crossover looks more attractive than the original.

The stern is also changed: there are new headlights (now with additional sections on the fifth door), other bumper and exhaust pipes.

Among the options, as before, there is a two-tone body paint.

The interior is also updated. Instead of a vertical screen media system has a wide horizontal screen with 4K resolution, as in the latest models Ford Evos and Mondeo.

For this purpose, it had to completely redesign the front panel, although the instrument display is still recessed under the visor.

The central tunnel is untouched, and only a small remote control with the most important keys is left of the console.

An updated Explorer will keep its current 2.3 turbo engine (276 hp) and ten-speed automatic in China.

According to preliminary information, the range will add basic two-liter turbo four capacity of about 220 hp, which was announced two years ago, but has not yet appeared in the serial crossovers.

Public demonstration of the updated Explorer will take place in April at the motor show in Beijing, sales will start by summer.

In the meantime, simultaneously with the restyled model in China presented Ford Explorer Warrior, created on the basis of the pre-reformed crossover.

According to official information, this special version is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the model, although in the U.S. the first Explorer debuted in 1990. Apparently, it doesn’t matter to the PRC.

The Warrior has abundant red trim, a steel roof rack and optional retractable running boards.

Contrasting inserts in the interior are also promised, but there are no technical changes.

There will be 600 of these crossovers, priced at $53,000, and they are about to go on sale.
