Haval F8 2024 (Xiaolong Max): the new hybrid crossover will go on sale.

In general, Haval is doing well in Russia, which is probably why in 2024 the Chinese company is going to introduce many new products to our market (for example, we already wrote about the F7 in a new body), among which will be the new Haval F8 crossover (sold in China under named Xiaolong Max).

What model is this?

Haval F8 2024 (or Xiaolong Max) is a mid-size crossover (length 4758 mm) comparable in format to the Skoda Kodiaq or Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. This is also a new model for China; the debut took place in the spring of 2023.

According to preliminary data, in Russia the Haval F8 (Xiaolong Max) will be offered in two versions (hybrid and petrol):

Gasoline turbo engine 2.0 (236 hp) paired with a 9-speed “robot”.

Hybrid: the power plant consists of a 1.5-liter turbo engine and an electric motor (total system power 299 hp and 585 Hm). The capacity of the traction battery is 19.27 kWh. Acceleration to 100 km/h – 6.8 s. The range in purely electric mode is 83 km, in hybrid mode – “up to 1000 km”.

It is interesting that in China the crossover is sold only in a single hybrid version, while a petrol version has also been announced for Russia.

Prices and start of sales in Russia

Judging by information from a closed dealer presentation, the new Haval F8 (or Xiaolong Max) will begin sales in Russia in September 2024. Approximate price range: 4,200,000 – 4,900,000 rubles. It turns out that this is a direct competitor to the Geely Tugella and Geely Monjaro.

In China, prices for Haval Xiaolong Max start at 148,900 yuan (1,860,000 rubles at the current exchange rate).

Exterior design and interior

In the appearance of the city Haval F8 (Xiaolong), it is quite easy to recognize a Haval car: the body proportions and optics design look familiar, but the Chinese decided to make the all-wheel drive Max different.

The larger version has a frameless radiator grille, the head optics become thinner and get more expressive “fangs”, but the rear lights have no lower “shoots”, plus a completely different rear bumper is used.

The interior of the Haval F8 (Xiaolong Max) 2024 crossover is completely made using a different architecture.

There are three 12.3-inch screens: an instrument panel and two multimedia touchscreens, one of which is intended for the front passenger. Plus a head-up display.

All this runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and is controlled by the productive Coffee OS, which includes a voice control system, synchronization with smartphones, online updates, etc.

In addition, the Max version uses a two-tone interior trim, and the front seats are electrically adjustable and heated as standard.

Equipment and characteristics: engine, transmission and chassis

Haval’s hybrid F8 (Xiaolong Max) is driven by a transmission called Hi4. It includes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 116 hp. s., two electric motors of 95 and 204 hp. With. (front/rear) and a battery pack with a capacity of 19.2 kWh.

Since the hybrid installation is plug-in, the car can move on pure electricity. The range here is about 83 km.

At the same time, the SUV has a two-speed DHT gearbox, which can take torque from the internal combustion engine, transmitting it to the front axle.

The fuel consumption of such a car varies greatly: if the batteries are used to the maximum, then for 100 km. it takes 1.8 liters of gasoline.

In the most storage-friendly mode, consumption reaches 6 liters per “hundred.” But the all-wheel drive Haval Xiaolong Max accelerates quite briskly: up to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
