It’s no secret that the car market in Russia has been going through not the best of times lately.

Many automakers are leaving the market, dealerships are closing, and some factories are stopping production until things are better.

The crisis with spare parts has also affected used cars.

The big surprise was the receipt of the OTTs certificate in Russia for the new generation of the Subaru WRX sedan.

Indeed, there have been no announcements from Subaru in Russia that they are leaving or staying in the Russian car market.

Accordingly, the Russian car market is still in the plans for the company. On the other hand, even if the novelty reaches Russia, the four-door should not be expected before 2023.

The certificate so far specifies Subaru WRX with a turbocharged engine, 2.4-liter volume and two transmission options.

Recall that the world premiere of the new Subaru WRX sedan took place in the fall of 2021.

According to the company’s plans, at the end of the summer of 2022 a new sedan was supposed to appear on the Russian market.

New events and the economic situation in Russia forced the company to adjust its plans.

On the other hand it is very important that the company still plans to sell the novelty on the Russian market. This decision has been confirmed by Subaru’s office for now, and the company has received an OTTs in Russia.

The new generation of Subaru WRX sedan is based on a modular platform SGP.

Due to this the body rigidity at torsion was increased, as well as increased rigidity in the places of suspension mounting. All of this resulted in a lower center of gravity and improved aerodynamic performance.

Changes also came to body size, the length was increased by 75 mm, now amounting to 4670 mm, and wheelbase added 25 mm, increased to 2675 mm.

As for the technical specifications, they are the same as the Japanese and American versions.

It is the same FA24, 2.4-liter turbocharged engine.

The total output will be 275 horses, and the maximum torque is 350 Nm.

The Japanese version of the WRX S4 2023 differs only in torque at 375 Nm, although the engine output is the same.

In tandem with the sedan’s engine, a six-speed manual gearbox or a fine-tuned modern variator will be installed. As expected, the sedan will have an all-wheel drive.

Another important moment is that the previous generation Subaru WRX is still available in dealer centers of Russia.

On the other hand the price list is not on the website anymore, and the price should be clarified directly from the representatives.

The previous generation in Russia is offered with a two-liter turbocharged engine FA20.

Power of the unit makes 268 horses and 350 Nm of torque. The WRX STI is also offered as an experimental variant.

Under the hood of this modification is turbocharged engine with a capacity of 2.5 liters and 300 horsepower.

The new generation will not be offered in STI configuration. Most likely this modification was not popular and today there is no point in continuing its production in a new generation.

If we believe OTTS, a new sedan Subaru WRX will be offered for the Russian market with climate control, heated rear and front seats.

The roof will get a sunroof, and the central part of the panel will get a multimedia system and a modern navigator.

A nice plus will be adaptive cruise control, a stereo camera to monitor the distance to the vehicle in front, blind spot monitoring and adaptive front optics with automatic switching of high and low beam.

Let’s hope that the novelty will make it to the Russian Federation and that the company will not change its plans regarding the sale of Subaru vehicles in Russia.
